I used to fly at night with the help of a MaxVis EVS Camera mounted to the wing of my Cirrus SR22. Now that I'm building a Velocity Aircraft I started to play around with the FLIR Hadron 640R camera attached to tie-down loop on the wing and streaming to the cockpit via WiFi. In an effort to improve visualization I'm processing the NIR channel to be colorized in real-time using the Pix2Pix Generative Adversarial Model. I trained this on the EPFL RGB-NIR dataset, the results are surprisingly fast (50fps) and effective.
